Kinkead Ridge 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon wins Silver Medal and 89 points (highly recommended) at the Bordeaux World Wine Competition run by the Beverage Tasting Institute in Chicago.
Tasting notes... "Garnet violet color. Pleasant aromas and flavors of floral black raspberry preserves, chocolate nuts, and peppery spice with a dry-yet-fruity medium body and a tangy, green apple and mineral accented finish. A very nice sipper with fine structure for the table too." Drink now-3 years.
All the other 89 point wines appear to be from California, and all but one (at $19.99) were more expensive than ours. All results will be posted on www.tastings.com on March 3.
The highest rating for a cab was 94.
The winter has been severe... lots of ice and snow. Here's a couple of photos... view from the second floor of the farmhome.
View from the back porch to the two barns, ice on everything, lost a cedar tree which split the trunk into three parts.
Time is running out to buy the winery and the vineyard as we plan to retire. See www.kinkeadridge.com/forsale.htm.
