The end of an era! Ron and I are now really retiring! We are happy to announce that Kinkead Ridge Winery has been purchased by the Bowers Family from Cleveland Ohio. With no grapes from 2014 at the estate, due to winter damage, Ron did a custom crush for Dr. Bowers with grapes from the West Coast, and they have turned out really well! There will be a new brand for wines created with grapes beyond the Ohio River Valley, Lowell Marie.
There will be a 2014 Pinot Gris, Viognier/Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon and River Village Traminette. Also in September, the last (for now) Kinkead Ridge estate wines... 2013 Petit Verdot, 2013 Cabernet Franc, and 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. In the future, a Lowell Marie Merlot and Petite Syrah.
A grand re-opening date will be posted on the website, www.KinkeadRidge.com.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful retail and wholesale customers who have supported us since 2001! It's been a road filled with glory and setbacks. I believe we have made a difference in the opinion of Ohio wine in this country in some circles... note our inclusion in internationally published reference books, Opus Vino and 1000 Great Everyday Wines from the World's Best Wineries.
Here are Dr. Bowers and Anna Marie Bowers with Ron in May...
Two upcoming events: Southern Ohio Wine Tasting at The Wine Gallery in Dayton, June 14.
And an extraordinary vertical tasting of Kinkead Ridge reds at Water Tower Fine Wines in Cincinnati in July.
This will be my last blog post... but you can still reach me at [email protected] The farm/vineyard is still for sale, see www.KinkeadRidge.com/forsale.htm.
